My plan is to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in 17 days. The route I have chosen is a distance of 1060 miles, assuming I don’t get lost too often. That’s about 65 miles per day, a distance I’ve cycled a few times, but never on consecutive days! It’s a total climb of 57000 feet.
I started cycling regularly about 4 years ago, more often since I retired in 2012. The confidence to do an end-to-end was inspired by my local U3A cycling group … thanks to everyone for the advice.
I have decided to ‘go it alone’ rather than join a supported group and only time will tell if this was a good idea. I have tailored the route to allow me to call in on family and friends on the way.
I am using my Ridgeback hybrid bike for the ride. I treated myself to a new Brookes saddle and I hope that helps.
I have set up this site so that friends and family can follow me on the route, and to prove I am actually doing it!
I also hope to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK … please click on the Donation tab for more information.
